TechPlas PVC sole boards

scaffoldindustryalert

As you may be aware, in late 2023, SafeWork NSW published an alert pertaining to the use of “plastic sole boards” by PCBUs, that was subsequently shared by the Scaffolding Association Australia (SAA) and other industry bodies.

TechPlas would like to take this opportunity afforded to us by the SAA, to inform the members that the alert was not made in relation to TechPlas PVC sole boards.

After discussions with representatives from the Engineering Department of SafeWork NSW, we can confirm the following.

  • TechPlas have been advised that their concern relates to a “yellow plastic product” which is different to the TechPlas sole board
  • SafeWork NSW has now updated the alert to include images of the products on sites that raised the concern, those images can be found at https://www.safework.nsw.gov.au/safety-alerts/safety-alerts/plastic-soleplates-for-scaffolds
  • SafeWork NSW has advised that when accompanied by testing data and standard use guidelines, TechPlas PVC sole boards can be used in line with our maximum load recommendations

Further information relating to TechPlas PVC sole boards, including testing and standard use guidelines can be found at https://techplas.com.au/soleboard/
