Scaffolding Supervisor Program
The Scaffolding Association Australia, in partnership with its HR Partner, Edwards HR, is proud to announce plans to develop a new Scaffolding Supervisor Program—a practical, industry-driven initiative designed to support the next generation of leaders in scaffolding.
Building Stronger Leaders on Site
As the scaffolding industry continues to evolve, the need for capable, confident supervisors has never been greater. This program is being designed specifically for scaffolders who are currently leading crews—or preparing to step into leadership roles—equipping them with the real-world skills needed to succeed on site.
Unlike traditional training, the Scaffolding Supervisor Program will focus on practical application, ensuring participants can immediately implement what they learn in their day-to-day work. Key areas of development will include:
- Clear, effective communication on site
- Planning and prioritisation under pressure
- Leadership and team management skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making in real time
Flexible, Industry-Friendly Delivery
Understanding the demands of scaffolding businesses, the program is being structured with flexibility in mind. It is expected to include:
- Five short training sessions (approximately 2–2.5 hours each)
- Delivery over a 6–7 month period
- In-person sessions in Brisbane alongside online options for interstate participants
- Multiple intake dates throughout the year
This format is designed to minimise disruption to project schedules while still delivering meaningful, high-impact learning.
Supporting Business Performance and Retention
Investing in frontline leadership has proven benefits across safety, productivity, and staff retention. By developing supervisors who can effectively lead crews, communicate with project managers, and maintain strong site culture, businesses can strengthen overall performance and reduce common on-site challenges.
The program aims to help companies:
- Improve on-site safety outcomes
- Enhance team performance and coordination
- Support employee development and retention
- Build a pipeline of future leaders within their workforce
Shaped by Industry, for Industry
A key part of developing this program is ensuring it reflects the real needs of the scaffolding sector. That’s why the SAA and Edwards HR are working closely with members to gather feedback on program structure, delivery preferences, and training topics.
This collaborative approach will ensure the final program is not only relevant, but genuinely valuable to scaffolding businesses across Australia.
Have Your Say
SAA members are encouraged to contribute to the development of the Scaffolding Supervisor Program by completing a short survey. Your feedback will directly influence the content, format, and delivery of this important initiative.
Together with Edwards HR, the Scaffolding Association Australia looks forward to building a program that strengthens leadership capability across the industry and supports safer, more effective worksites nationwide.
