Celebrating International Scaffolding and Access Day 2026

Today, 14th May 2026, we proudly join the global scaffolding and access community in celebrating the very first International Scaffolding and Access Day.

Officially launched by the International Access & Scaffolding Association (IASA), this new annual day of recognition has been created to celebrate the essential role the scaffolding and access industry plays in construction, infrastructure, maintenance, shutdowns, events, resources and industrial projects across the world.

This year’s inaugural theme is:

“Recognising the industry. Supporting its people. Shaping its future.”

The theme reflects what our industry represents every day — professionalism, skill, resilience, innovation and the people who make it all possible.

As a founding international member of IASA, the Scaffolding Association Australia is proud to stand alongside industry associations and businesses around the globe in recognising the scaffolding workforce and the critical contribution our sector makes to safety, productivity and economic development.

Recognising the People Behind the Industry

Scaffolding and access professionals are often the first on site and the last to leave. Their work enables construction, maintenance and industrial operations to happen safely and efficiently in some of the most challenging environments imaginable.

International Scaffolding and Access Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the scaffolders, supervisors, designers, inspectors, engineers, labourers, trainers, transport teams and business leaders who continue to raise standards and drive our industry forward.

It is also a reminder of the importance of:

  • Improving the image of scaffolding
  • Developing and attracting future talent
  • Driving innovation and better technology
  • Strengthening compliance and safety standards
  • Working toward greater consistency in training and competency worldwide

A Message from Hon. Sam O’Connor MP

We are honoured to share a special video message from Hon. Sam O’Connor MP in recognition of International Scaffolding and Access Day and the important contribution our industry makes across Australia.

We sincerely thank Hon. Sam O’Connor MP for taking the time to support and acknowledge the scaffolding and access sector on this important occasion.

We were also very pleased to receive letters of support and acknowledgement from the Hon Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia and from the Hon Guy Barnett MP, Deputy Premier of Tasmania.

Celebrating Our Members

Today is also about celebrating the businesses and people who represent the very best of our industry.

We would like to thank the all of our members for their continued support of the association and for getting behind this international day to celebrate.

Their projects, teams and worksites showcase the professionalism, pride and capability that exists throughout the Australian scaffolding and access industry.

Looking Ahead

The creation of International Scaffolding and Access Day marks an important milestone for our industry globally.

For many years, scaffolding professionals have played a critical role in delivering safe access solutions that keep construction, industry and infrastructure moving. Today provides a dedicated opportunity to recognise that contribution and continue building a stronger future for the next generation entering our sector.

From everyone at the Scaffolding Association Australia, thank you to every individual and business working across the scaffolding and access industry.

Your work matters. Your skills matter. And today, we celebrate you.

Happy International Scaffolding and Access Day 2026.
