SAA Announces New Board Appointments

The Scaffolding Association Australia is pleased to announce several important updates to our Board, strengthening our governance, broadening our expertise and supporting the continued professional growth of our industry.

Tina Wieczorek – Non-Executive Board Member

We are delighted to welcome Tina Wieczorek to the SAA Board as a Non-Executive Board Member.

Tina brings a proven record of transformative leadership, governance excellence, and international collaboration across the scaffolding, rigging, and wider specialist trades industries. As the outgoing Chief Executive of Scaffolding, Access and Rigging New Zealand (SARNZ) and current Chair of the New Zealand Specialist Trade Contractors Federation (NZSTCF), she has been instrumental in driving regulatory reform, advancing licensing frameworks, and reshaping the vocational education landscape for the construction sector. She is also recognised as a key voice in the vocational education sector for specialist trades, ensuring fair representation and stronger pathways for skills development across the industry.

A recognised international voice in scaffolding advocacy, Tina was pivotal in establishing Memorandums of Understanding between SARNZ, the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (UK), and the Scaffolding Association Australia, fostering alignment on global safety and competency standards.

Tina’s appointment reflects SAA’s commitment to strong governance, cross-border collaboration, and the elevation of professional standards across the scaffolding sector. Her strategic insight, international relationships, and people-focused leadership will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the Association.

Erryn O’Brien – Non-Executive Board Member

We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Erryn O’Brien as a Non-Executive Board Member of SAA. Erryn currently serves as General Manager at SAA, bringing more than 16 years’ industry experience, including her service as Executive Officer of the Scaffolding Association Queensland (SAQ) for six years, managing the transition from SAQ to the national SAA.

With a background in marketing and business management within the construction industry, Erryn has managed strategy, campaigns, events, communications and association operations for the SAA. Her deep knowledge of the scaffolding sector and her role in growing SAA’s national profile will add valuable insight to Board deliberations. As a Non-Executive Board Member, Erryn will leverage her experience to guide the strategic direction of the association, strengthen member engagement and help amplify the voice of the scaffolding industry in Australia.

Jordy Adshead – Secretary

The Board is also pleased to confirm that Jordy Adshead, already an Executive Director of SAA, has taken on the additional role of Secretary.

Jordy is the Director of Growth & Sustainability at Base Industries and brings a strong background in safety leadership, scaffold training, operational performance and stakeholder engagement. His experience designing and delivering scaffold compliance training has given him deep insight into site behaviours, common risk patterns and the gaps in understanding that lead to non-compliant or unsafe modifications.

A standout example of Jordy’s contribution to SAA is the Stop Scaffold Tampering campaign, an initiative he conceived and shaped through his frontline experience in training and compliance.

Jordy identified scaffold tampering as one of the most persistent and dangerous issues affecting scaffolders and construction workers across Australia. Drawing on his training experience, he developed the foundation concept, messaging structure and risk-focused themes that now form the backbone of the national campaign. Jordy worked closely with the SAA team to translate those insights into a three-month, industry-wide educational program that reached thousands of workers, builders and principal contractors.

His leadership played a major role in the success of the campaign, helping drive significant awareness and reinforcing SAA’s commitment to safety advocacy.

In his role as Secretary, Jordy will oversee Board administration, governance processes, statutory compliance and coordination across committees. His experience as an existing Director ensures continuity, while his structured, pragmatic approach strengthens the effectiveness and accountability of the Board as a whole.

Moving Forward

These appointments strengthen an already committed and experienced Board. With Robert Thiess continuing in his role as Chair, and Danny Zarb as Vice Chair, the Scaffolding Association Australia is supported by a leadership team that combines deep industry knowledge, strong governance experience and a clear vision for the future of our sector.

The addition of Tina Wieczorek and Erryn O’Brien as Non-Executive Board Members, alongside Jordy Adshead in his expanded role as Secretary, builds on this foundation. Their combined expertise, from international scaffolding governance, national industry advocacy, training and compliance, operational leadership, and member engagement, strengthens the Board’s ability to guide the Association through its next phase of growth.

Together, Robert, Danny, Jordy, Tina and Erryn will continue to drive SAA’s focus on safety, professionalism and national collaboration, ensuring the scaffolding industry has a strong, unified voice across Australia.
