Industry response to Kwikform voluntary administration

The Scaffolding Association Australia acknowledges the appointment of voluntary administrators to the Kwikform group and recognises the impact this development will have on workers, subcontractors, creditors, and the broader construction industry.

This is a difficult situation for many across the sector. Hundreds of employees and a wide network of suppliers and subcontractors are now facing uncertainty following the collapse of a major scaffolding and formwork provider involved in projects across Australia.

While administrators have been appointed, and it is appropriate that this process is allowed to run its course, it is important to acknowledge the real and immediate consequences for those affected. We strongly encourage any impacted parties to seek appropriate support, including legal, financial and advisory assistance, as they navigate this period.

Events such as this also highlight broader, system-level issues within the construction industry that warrant attention. In particular, the vulnerability of subcontractors in insolvency scenarios, exposure to unpaid claims, and risks associated with retention and delayed payment structures remain ongoing concerns.

The scaffolding and access sector plays a fundamental role in enabling construction activity nationwide. Ensuring that businesses and workers in this part of the supply chain are better protected must remain a priority for policymakers and industry stakeholders alike.
