Agenda

10:30 – 10:35 am | Opening and Welcome
Presenter: Erin Zumot – Director, Scaffold Studio
Erin will welcome members and guests, acknowledge our partners and supporters, outline the purpose of the meeting, and set the tone for a productive and collaborative session.

10:35 – 10:50 am | Scaffolding Near Overhead Powerlines
Presenter: Riley Bryn Endeavour Energy
Riley will share real-world insights into the hazards and issues faced by energy providers when scaffolding is installed near live overhead powerlines. This session will highlight key risks, legal and compliance obligations, and practical safety messages for scaffolders, supervisors, and business owners.

10:50 – 11:00 am | When Are Scaffold Designs and Engineering Required?
Presenter: Mark Corkery – NSW Chair, Scaffolding Association of Australia
Mark will provide a clear overview of when scaffold designs and engineering certifications are required under Australian Standards and NSW regulations. He’ll also walk through practical examples and explain how the SAA’s upcoming guidance material can support members in getting this right.

11:00 – 11:15 am | SafeWork NSW Update
Presenter: Robert Garland – SafeWork NSW
This session will cover recent compliance trends and industry data from SafeWork NSW. The presentation will address PCBU and scaffolder responsibilities, enforcement case studies, and design-related compliance examples relevant to the scaffolding industry.

11:15 – 11:30 am | Scaffold Training – Beyond the Basics
Presenter: Matt Malloy – Director, Integral Scaffolding
Matt will break down what’s actually covered in the Basic Scaffolding High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) and where it falls short of site expectations. He’ll outline how employers can improve workforce capability through mentoring, structured upskilling, and role-specific training beyond the HRWL.

11:30 – 11:45 am | Revenue through Branding
Presenter: Tiffany StevensonSitemax
Tiffany will present on how scaffolders can generate new revenue streams through scaffold branding. With scaffolds offering high-visibility advertising real estate, she’ll show how printed vinyl and banner mesh can deliver long-term exposure for clients—at a fraction of billboard costs. The session includes example projects, a cost-versus-mark-up breakdown, and guidance on how to position branding as a value-add in quotes.

11:45 – 12:00 pm | Client Satisfaction and Practical Tips
Presenter: Scott Butlin – Director, Australian Scaffolds
Scott will share practical strategies for improving client relationships, from managing expectations to avoiding disputes. He’ll draw on real project experience to highlight simple but effective ways to enhance client satisfaction and deliver more consistent service.

12:00 – 12:15 pm | Open Forum / Q&A

An open session where members can raise questions, share ideas, and discuss current issues with their peers and presenters.
